Now Playing

Cockadoodledoo
by Eric Yokomori

In a small rural town where “nothing interesting happens,” a chunk of meteor lands in farmer Templeton’s chicken coop and changes everything in this surrealistic tale, which echoes Beckett’s Waiting for Godot and Ionesco’s Rhinoceros.

Enjoy the wild ride!

Interview with Playwright Eric Yokomori

Donna Blanchard:  Have you ever wondered what goes on in the mind of an absurdist writer?

When I invited Eric to be a guest on my show, I expected a good conversation, but I had NO IDEA how deeply we were going to delve in Eric's unbelievable writing technique and process.

I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!

We invite you to watch  The Arts in Hawaii, hosted by Donna Blanchard.  Her guest is playwright Eric Yokomori.

YOUR OPINION MATTERS TO US!

The Atherton Foundation

We're honored to be the recipients of a generous grant from the Atherton Foundation, which will help us make some much needed improvements to our building and your experience with us.  The improvements include fixing structural damage to our floor, improving our storage and replacing our worn and deteriorating theatre seats.

Rather than fund the entire project, The Atherton Foundation is granting us a portion of the expenses, allowing us to work with other foundations, corporations and individuals to fully fund the improvements.

Our deficit is $40,000, beyond our usual fundraising efforts for general support.  As we work on strategies to raise the funds, we welcome your input, energy, sponsorships and donations.  Are you and/or your corporation able to help us?   Would you like to advise us or work on our fundraising committee?

We have eleven months to fund and complete the projects.  If you'd like to help, please contact Donna by replying to this email, calling 536-4222 or clicking:

We thank The Atherton Foundation and YOU!

Two For One

We are also deeply grateful for support from the Hawaii Tourism Authority, which has granted us marketing funds to help tell everyone on the island about our work and invite them to join us.  You'll be seeing two-for-one offers on our tickets in various places, including on the back of our show programs through the remainder of the season.

We hope you'll bring someone you like into our home - When you bring someone who hasn't been to a show at Kumu Kahua Theatre for at least five years, we'll give you one free ticket for each you purchase!

Please call the box office in advance to redeem this offer: 536-4111.
